In order to maintain the original performance of the outer spherical bearing in a good condition for as long as possible, maintenance and repair are necessary to prevent accidents before they occur, ensure the reliability of operation, and improve productivity and economy. Maintenance should be carried out regularly in accordance with the operating standards of the mechanical operating conditions. The contents include monitoring the operating status, replenishing or replacing lubricants, and regular disassembly inspections.

Generally, if the outer spherical bearing is used correctly, it can be used until the fatigue life is reached. However, there may be accidental damage prematurely, and may not be able to withstand use. This early damage, as opposed to fatigue life, limits the use of qualities called failures or accidents. It is mostly caused by careless installation, use, and lubrication, foreign matter invaded from the outside, and insufficient research on the thermal effect of the shaft and housing.

Regarding the damage state of the outer spherical bearing, such as: the jam of the ring rib of the roller bearing, as the cause can be considered, insufficient lubricant, unsuitability, defects in the oil supply and drainage structure, foreign matter intrusion, TIMKEN bearing installation error, shaft If the deflection is too large, these reasons may overlap.

Therefore, it is difficult to know the real cause of the damage only by investigating bearing damage. However, if you know the machinery of the bearing, the operating conditions, the structure around the bearing, and the situation before and after the accident, combined with the damage state of the bearing and several reasons, you can prevent similar accidents from happening again.

When judging whether the outer spherical bearing can be used again, it should be determined according to the damage degree, mechanical performance, importance, operating conditions, inspection cycle and other related factors of the TIMKEN bearing. However, if the following defects are found during the inspection, the bearing cannot continue to be used and needs to be replaced with a new TIMKEN bearing.

(a) Any one of the inner ring, outer ring, rolling element, and cage is cracked or chipped.

(b) Any one of the rings and rolling elements is broken.

(c) There are obvious scratches on the rolling surface, ribs and rolling elements.

(d) The cage is obviously worn out, or the rivets are obviously loose.

(e) There are rust or scars on the raceway surface and rolling elements.

(f) There are serious indentations or bruises on the raceway surface and rolling elements.

(g) There is obvious creep on the inner diameter surface of the inner ring or the outer diameter surface of the outer ring.

(h) Obviously discolored due to overheating.

(i) The seal ring or dust cover of TIMKEN bearing filled with grease is seriously damaged.
